Careful with the bleach!
Do no harmβ¦
Bleach-based cleaners can be very effective! However they aren't always suitable for every cleaning application! It can depend quite a lot on the surface being cleaned, the type of stain, and the strength & application of the cleaning agent itself.
So 'Bleach' is the generic name for any chemical product that is used industrially and domestically to remove colour from a fabric or fibre, OR to clean or to remove stains ('bleaching'). It's widely used in a lot of cleaning products around the home - and as a powerful stain remover.
However, this stuff is super-powerful! Even normal household cleaning agents with a bleach-base are only at a 3-6% concentrate solution. This stuff is really designed & used for its anti-bacterial properties - it kills off bacteria & other nasties, disinfects surfaces in kitchens & bathrooms etc.
However it's nowhere-near ideal for cleaning stains & marks out of carpets & other upholstered surfaces & furniture! Well, it's actually brilliant at treating dirt - but you are at a very high risk of damaging your carpet or upholstery! π± Bleach-based cleaners (even less powerful ones) are extremely capable of taking the affecting the colour of the fabrics, causing damage, and leaving behind a discoloured patch where it has been applied for fabric or carpet!
We see it regularly - something has been spilled - and the instinct is to head to the kitchen cupboard under the sink and grab the cleaner spray-bottle. Fast-forward, and you'll likely have a discoloured patch of carpet around where the stain or spill was π£
